A Southern girl is a girl who knows full and well that she can open a door for herself but prefers for the gentleman to do it because it demonstrates a sense of respect. After all, every girl wants to be treated like a princess. She knows how to make sweet tea and grits while telling you everything about any football team in the SEC. She picks her battles and fights with the heart of a pit-bull while still maintaining grace and elegance. Her mystique is that of a soft-spoken, mild-mannered southern belle who could direct an army, loves her momma, and will always be daddy's little girl.

I am a Junior!

f

Today marked my first day of Junior year. As if that doesn't make me feel old enough, I had 2 different people in 2 different classes ask me in surprise "Why are you in this class?" after mentioning what year I was. I am on track to graduate in the allotted 4 years so I don't understand what is so shocking that I am in a General Education class but oh well... They will live!
Today I wore my Lilly Callahan shorts with a white linen shirt, paired with my white Jack Rogers. I had 5 straight classes from 9:30 am to 4:45 pm with no more than a 10- 15 minute break in between each. Because I had no time to go to lunch, I packed mine in my new lunch box and some cold water in my monogrammed Tervis. It was kind of weird having to eat in class but I wasn't the only one! In my navy North Face backpack, I also packed my favorite Lilly notebooks that always brighten my mood, no matter how bad a class is going. To finish off my outfit I wore a stack of silver bracelets, my Pandora, and my white watch.
Classes went well, I went in with an open mind despite the negative things some people had to say about my professors and I have nothing to complain about. I can't wait to see how this semester progresses! How was everybody else's first day? Can't wait to hear all about it!

Movin' on Up!

My freshman year I lived on campus in the dorms and last year I lived in the residence that houses all sororities (ASU's form of Greek Row). So this year it was time for a change! As I mentioned, I moved in to my very first apartment this week!

This is the view standing from the back of the room looking out towards the door.

This is the view as seen by standing in the doorway .
Dresser and Mirror. Goodwill $50 total
Bed Frame. Ikea. $90
Duvet. Pottery Barn
Curtains. Ikea. $25
Small Game table. roadside find!

* The dresser, mirror and game table were all painted by me and my Mama to match my room! we love re- vamping old furniture!

Another angle of my room. I am in love with these new colors! They are much more subdued than my previous colors but I think they are still youthful.

This is our lovely living room. I am sorry for the dark picture. We love this spacious area! We have a love-seat coming as well for additional seating but we are happy with how it looks!

Overall, I am very pleased with the way that everything came together! I was a little homesick at first, I will admit, but I love my new apartment. Let me know what you think!

New Uses for Old Objects

I am moving in to my FIRST apartment!! And I couldn't be more excited!!! I have had such a great time looking for different ways to decorate, all summer! Mom and I went to about every antique store and thrift shop imaginable, in North Carolina! I finally found some great items that I fell in love with! We always buy solid wood pieces and fix them up, so this summer we have had a few projects. I will show you my bedroom some time next week because it is still a work in progress!

Today I did a small project that I am thrilled to share with you! I was so excited about this because I had always wanted to do something with old windows; so when Emma Loo found some in the trash I quickly asked for one to get crafty with! This is what she did with hers...

This one she covered with beer bottle caps and used as a magnetic board in her kitchen! Isn't this a funky and fresh new twist?!

This was a HUGE window! Emma Loo decided to paint the frame with chalkboard paint and covered the back with some fabric. She uses this window as a calendar that helps her keep track of all the clients that she has and how far along she is with them. Check her out here.

Today I began my project...

I started by taping off the glass so that I wouldn't get paint on it.

Then I decided to use a blend of lime green paint and a few shades darker. I left this a little sloppy looking, for effect. I also sanded and wiped it down with a wet paper towel before I began but I left it looking a bit weathered. I really like this look!

After I finished painting the window it looked a little dull so I decided to seal it with some Modge- Podge to give it a nice gloss. Then I used some of mBa's left- over fabric and hot glued it to the back. This is how it turned out...
Notice I left the lock on the top of the window to give it a authentic look! I also attached 4 hooks at the bottom to hang keys on and because the glass is still intact, this can serve as a message board as well! I plan on hanging this by the front door for convenience and I think the colors should coordinate perfectly with the living room (pictures to come)!

This was a
very simply DIY project that truly turns 'one man's trash into another {wo}man's treasure'.

Boots

I have this obsession for BOOTS!!! It is a terrible thing!! I already have 4 pairs of cowboy boots, 2 pairs of rain boots, a pair of snow boots and still feel the need for more!! Well I just ordered a new pair of black Justin boots and they are supposed to be here any day now!! I am so excited!! I wear boots almost every day whether I wear them with a cute sun dress in the Summer, with leggings and tights in the Fall, or with cute jeans in the Winter! I feel like you can never have enough! They are a true necessity, especially here in Boone!

I recently saw these on Re- Lilly and was a few hours late, someone saw these precious things and swooped then up quicker than anyone else! I am really jealous!! I would kill for these "Swellies"! I hate that I missed them a few years back but these pink elephant print boots would be perfect me!!

I have been in search for these Bean boots from L.L. Bean! I am so excited to add these stylish things to my collection!! Their website notes that they are great for wet, muddy chores or for running errands because of their low- cut slip- on style. I am having trouble figuring out what size to order because they run big! They also run naturally wide but they come in narrow, medium, and wide. I will definitely be consulting the sizing guide before I make any purchases but the Customer Service Reps at L.L. Bean are always nice!!

The Day that was Turned Around with a Smile

This is how my day started out!! The BEST friend, mBa, in the entire world came to Boone for the day to visit me for my BIRTHDAY!!! I am so happy she came, she is awesome, living 9 hours apart is rough but it makes it all the better when we do get to spend time together!! She brought my presents, she painted me a cooler, brought me beautiful Gerbera daisies (my favorite!) and a beautiful skirt!
After a quick bite at Boone Drug, we decided to hit the outlets in Blowing Rock and stopped by this lovely store on the way back! We stumbled upon Bless Your Heart earlier this summer. This is a very cute boutique. It cheers you up, just by walking in!I snapped a few quick pics on my BB while walking through. I LOVE the color scheme! So bright and vibrant, yet clean and crisp looking!

This store is super cute!! They have everything from cute gift ideas, to items for your baby, clothes for yourself, and some unique pajamas too. As if that isn't enough, they have a team who makes bouquets and do flower arrangements for weddings. They have a 'Mason Jar Club' that they create arrangements with the left over flowers from the weddings for a VERY reasonable price!! mBa decided to be a wonderful daughter and pick some up for her Mamma! look how pretty they are!

Although it was quite a dreary day in town, it really turned around when I saw the faces of friends and family coming to cheer me up!! I am super excited for my birthday now! The presents they brought me actually reminded me of what's to come!! Also, when I got back tonight, kRl brought me the present she bought for me this weekend! Guess what it was?! AN ELEPHANT PANDORA BEAD!!! Just what I had mentioned I wanted in an earlier post!! I love it and I'm so excited to wear it tomorrow!!

44- 16

It was a beautiful day in Boone! Sunny, and 80 degrees outside! Quite a turn around from last weekend when we had a down
- pour that ruined the tailgating mood!! I am so happy that today was pretty and we all got to dress up and look cute for the Fratty boys at tailgate! I endured the heat for just a little bit longer and actually went to some of the game!! Wouldn't ya know it?! App won!! We beat NCCU 44- 16, that made everyone's day even better!! And although my day did not start out so great... it ended in much better! This is me and the Roomie with Yosef!! ps. No, I am not pregnant- the dress is just a little big
